Patrick Fannon was born in 1842 and baptised at Kilbride Parish, don't know his parent. He went to America at age 16. I don't know if he came by himself. He was my great grandfather. Would like any info. Available.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Just want to doublecheck that you are looking for Kilbride in Co. Galway which is out ion the Connemara area. Records for that parish do not start until 1853. Do you have a baptismal record or is the information based on family stories?

No,it is Kilbride in County Roscommon. The baptismal is based on family history. He lived in Baltimore,MD,USA. His wedding took place in Baltimore and in church records for Dioecesis he said he was from Co. Roscommon. he married in 1874.should be Kilbride at Four Mile House.

Thanks Our new web site has a program problem and all parishes with the same name point to only one county. In this case, the county was Galway.
I looked at Roots Ireland and there is an 1842 baptismal record for a Patrick Fannon in Kilbride parish.Interestingly, he was baptized six months after his birth which is unusual. The parents also had a Brigid in 1838 and a Michael in 1836.
Here is a link to the Kilbride parish register.

Hi Roger,
I should have asked if there is any evidence that John or Margaret Fannon, the parents of Patrick died in Ireland,if not I assume they came to the U.S. With him.

Civil registration started in 1864. I looked at the civil death index records in Co. Roscommon for John and Margaret Fannons. However, none of the records make sense age wise for a couple who had a child in 1842. They could have died in the Famine also which predates 1864.

Thanks for checking. My great grandfather Patrick came to America around 16 but do not know if he came with family or by himself.
