I found 4 oldest of my grandfather's brothers and sisters baptismal records on the National Library of Ireland site under the Catholic Church Registers.  They were all in Lower Drumreilly.  Does anyone know if the newer registers will be available to view in the future?  I already know the exact date of births for his remaining brothers and sister since one of his sisters had recorded them in an old family scrapbook.  I am trying to determine who the godparents were in the hopes that they might be additional relatives.  Two of the four records I previously found contained names of people I had not previously heard of.

I am looking for baptismal record with godparents for :

Katherine Fox - born 5-13-1883        Margaret Fox - born 3-3-1886             Rose Fox born 5-9-1888

Helena Fox - born 11-20-1889          Hugh Fox born - born 9-30-1893         Elizabeth Fox - born 12-11-1894

Peter Fox born 11-13-1896

Any help you can provide would be appreciated.  Thank you

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Roots Ireland which is a subscription site has baptismal records for Drumreilly Lower parish up to 1899. I checked the transcriptions and none of the transcriptionrecords appeared to have sponsors listed, Not sure why, Can I suggest that you contact the church directly and see if they can assist? http://www.kilmorediocese.ie/diocese/parishes/24-corlough-drumreilly-lr

  • I did contact St Bridgid's in Corraleehan in the past.  The parish priest there was able to put me in contact with a descendent of Michael Fox. I have a seperate post with regards to a Michael Fox obituary posted on this site..

I have sent other e-mails to the parish priest in the past to see if I could obtain those baptismal records and received no response.  The descendent of Michael Fox lives in the USA and does still own a house in Ireland.  When they were on vacation in Ireland they went to see him about those baptismal records.  Apparently the priest is in charge of multiple parishes and did not have time.   It would be interesting to know just what those records show and what records the church really has.   The children listed above are the children of Patrick Fox.  There must be other records for the children of Michael Fox.

I do not know if you have any volunteers or have any people connected to the St Bridgid Chuch in Corraleehan that might be able to assist the priest physically search those records.

I did send a e-mail the other day to the priest to see if I get a response back this time.

Yes, it look like Monsignor? McManus has three churches and he is based in Belturbet Co. Cavan. We do not have any volunteers in the area. Sorry.

What about the closest library branch? Is Carrigallen the closest? http://www.leitrimcoco.ie/eng/Community-Culture/Library/Locations-Openi…

I live in the USA also. Check the link and try the Carrigallen branch which is the parish just to the southeast of Lower Drumreilly.
