Looking for any information on Abraham Pilkington of Kilbride Castle and his family. Abraham is listed as a major land owner in Griffiths Vaulation. I am trying to identify his parents, wife and children.
Sincerely,
Sean Pickett

Hi Sean
The only birth/baptism record of Abraham Pilkington on www.rootsireland.ie/ is a baptism in Galway 1831
Griffiths was done in Westmeath in 1854 so he would have been about 23 years old.
You need to purchase credit to view the record which would give you the parish and HOPEFULLY the parents' names - some do / some don't.

Sean,
Abraham?s death in 1874 indicates he was born in 1781. His probate abstract indicates he had a daughter Maria Jane who married a William Knight, farmer, of Coola Lodge, Kilmague, Co Kildare. She seems to have died in Dublin South in 1885 and was born c 1827. So Abraham was married before that.
If you know what denomination he was, you could search the parish records for his marriage and baptisms of his children. If the family were Church of Ireland, then it doesn?t appear that the Kilbride parish records are on-line. If they still exist, there may be a copy in the RCB library in Dublin.

Sean,
Just a note that might help. William Pilkington and Anne Pilkington (nee Kilmurry) did have a son - William Pilkington, born 1851, Baptised County Westmeath. This was before they moved to Roscommon area. Jim jimblower@shaw.ca

Hi Sean, I have just come across this site and your post looking for info on Pilkingtons. There was a message mentioning William Knight marrying Mary Pilkington. I am a direct descendant of William, and have recently been researching my family tree so to find your messages was of great interest, despite it being some time ago, because I had come across the Pilkington connection. Are you connected to the family?
