I am researching the Harte Family of County Leitrim. I have found 8 our their 11+/- children were baptised in the Killanummery Parish RC area. Any information you can give me on remaining Hartes related to Bernard and Mary (Waters) Harte or friends in the are who may have known this family would be appreciated. Many of their children emmigrated to Boston, MA in the late 1800's, early 1900's. They are Michael, Maryann, Elizabeth, (my great grandmother b1876, d1920 in Boston), Nora, Bernard II and his wife Delia. I am happy to share all the information I have on the extended family in Boston. I am very interested in those that stayed behind, where they live and what they do, especially Bernard and Mary Harte. They married in 1869, Manor Hamilton. She may have died in 1913 but not 100% certain. I have been unable to find Bernard other than on the Baptismal Record of their youngest Thomas in 1890.

Maureen:
I looked for your family in the 1901 and 1911 census with no success. Did any of the baptismal records show a townland where the family lived?

Hi Roger:
No,but I do have an online death record for Mary (Waters) Harte and it says the informant was her son Patrick and he lived in Clooncoose, Co. Leitrim in the Rynn Civil Registration District in 1913. Is that close the Killanummery RC Parish District? By1901, many of the children had already emmigrated to Boston so I'm not surprised you were unable to find them. But I can assume Patrick stayed in Ireland. Thank you for looking at this for me. I appreciate it. Very difficult to do this sort of research being an ocean apart. It also says she was a widow, so apparently Bernard predeceased her. Last know child born was Thomas in 1890. So somewhere between 1890 and 1913, Bernard died.
Respectfully,
Maureen

Maureen:
The spelling of the townland is Clooncose but I'm sure you see variant spellings. Looks like Patrick may have been born around 1872. Below are the 1901 and 1911 census records of what I believe is your family. There were three Patrick Hart/Harte families in Clooncose in 1901 and four Patrick Harte families in 1911. This was the only family with a mother Mary. Their Clooncose townland was in Cloone civil parish which is quite a ways from Killanummery parish.
I will keep looking for other records. I'm surprised I can't locate the Thomas Harte born in 1890 unless one of his siblings took him to America before 1901.
