My gg grandfather was Edward Ryan farmer of Co Tyrone. My g Grandfather Timothy Ryan emigrated to New Zealnd 1864 with his wife Hannah (nee Cleary) and their three children - mary aged 12. James aged 10 and Thomas. I have found an Edward Ryan in the Griffiths Valuations as a teneat farmer on land owned by the Rev john j Jackson in Balliderry. I am trying to establish whether this Edward Ryan is my gg grandfather.

You may want to look at this site for Co. Tyrone research. http://www.cotyroneireland.com/

I looked on Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie and was not able to find a baptismal record for Timothy Ryan in the Ballinderry RC records ( I'm assuming your family was RC). Actually no records for any Timothy Ryan in Tyrone from 1818-1838.

I looked for marriage records for an Edward Ryan and the only one I found was an 1825 marriage for an Edward Ryan in the Coalisland RC records which correspond to Donaghhenry civil parish.

As you may know, Ballinderry is in the northeast corner of Co. Tyrone on the Co. Derry border. Donaghhenry is a few parishes to the southwest of Ballinderry.

Do you have Timothy's death record and does it show his mother's name?
