Have you tried looking for information on the family in Church records? Most Catholic records are held locally. One website which you may find helpful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For Donaghmore parish follow this link:

Another good website is Family Search. This is a huge database of genealogical records compiled by the Church of the Latter Day Saints. You may be able to find a record of someone in the family here:

www.familysearch.org

You could also try looking for either Quinn?s or Hughes in Griffith?s Valuation. This is a property valuation survey that was carried out in Ireland 1848-1864. You can search this here:

There is also an earlier land record available, the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp

Have you tried looking into their emigration? Generally more information was given at the port of arrival rather than that of departure. Some website which you may find helpful in this regard are:
