I am looking for information regarding my 2nd great grandparents Patrick Joseph Quinn and Mary (Hughes) married in Donaghmore on Jan 20th 1846 . They had two daughters in Donaghmore before they emigrated to London Middlesex County, Ontario Canada via New York between 1851 and 1857. Their daughters names were Ann May Quinn born Nov/Dec 1849, baptized Dec 3rd 1849 and Mary Josephine born Nov 1850 and baptized Nov 29th 1850. Any information regarding this family or relatives in Ireland would be a great help. Thank you in advance. Paul

Hi Paul,
Thank you for your message. I hope that someone who recognises the family makes a connection with you.
Have you tried looking for information on the family in Church records? Most Catholic records are held locally. One website which you may find helpful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For Donaghmore parish follow this link:
For Church of Ireland records check http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/.
Another good website is Family Search. This is a huge database of genealogical records compiled by the Church of the Latter Day Saints. You may be able to find a record of someone in the family here:
You could also try looking for either Quinn?s or Hughes in Griffith?s Valuation. This is a property valuation survey that was carried out in Ireland 1848-1864. You can search this here:
http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
There is also an earlier land record available, the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
Have you tried looking into their emigration? Generally more information was given at the port of arrival rather than that of departure. Some website which you may find helpful in this regard are:
