My family, as far as I have been able to trace, were based at Urney. The main name is Gormley, who, unusually, were Presbyterians. There are also lots of other names including Henderson, George, Quinn, Foskett and so on.
Many of them came from this area either C.o.I. or Pres.
The main person I would really like to find out more about is Robert Gormley md, Rebecca Holmes. Born 1831, died 1893. Married at Urney Pres Church, died in Strabane. Father was Joseph from his marriage certificate.
I would love to find out where he was born (maybe Co.Derry??) and what siblings he had. At his marriage he was a Blacksmith but he was a farmer by the end of his life. Somewhere in the family tree someone must have 'turned' to Protestant. Family talk always said he was from Fermanagh but although their is a Gormley protestant family in Fermanagh, there isn't a connection
Family talk says that the Quinns were connected to the family. I have found Elizabeth Gormley who married Hugh Quinn and her father was Joseph (again all in this area) but her DOB suggests that her father Joseph would have been a brother of Robert Gormley not Elizabeth as a sister.
If anyone can help, please just ask for more details.
Thanks
Claire
