Hannah Tinney, Mullagheap, Kilmacrenan Parrish, Tully Barony, died May 6, 1898 wife of Daniel

Hannah Tinney lived in Mullagheep townland in Tullyfern civil parish and Bernard McElwee lived in Grovehall townland in Kilmacrenan civil parish. Even though the two townlands were in different parishes, they were actually very close to each other. From Google Maps it looks like they are about 1.5 kilometers apart and possibly the two properties bordered each other which explains why Bernard was given the farm subject to the other provisions.

RC church records for that area do not start until the 1860s so no church records would exist for the Tinney family.

I did locate the civil death index record for Hannah and the death was registered in the April-June quarter in 1898.

Thank you so much Mr. McDonnell for taking the time to research my inquiry. I am looking for any information about Hannah's husband, Daniel. I don't know where he came from, when he died, etc.,

That is interesting about the land being parallel to each other.

I checked the civil death index records in the Milford registration district and did not see a death record for Daniel. There are three possibilities. Civil registration started in 1864 so it is possible that Daniel died pre-1864. The second possibility is that he died 1864 or later but the family did not register the death. Third, the family lived somewhere else before moving to Mullagheep and the prior location was in a different registration district.

Sorry, I could not locate a record.

     Sorry to say, no one has been able to penetrate the history beyond Daniel and Hannah Tinney. If I ever did find anything out, I would post it. My gmail account is anne.m.lavery@gmail.com should you wish to contact me directly.

     My knowledge about Daniel and Hannah came to me from a document written by Father Charles Tinney, a Franciscan priest and my great uncle. It simply listed the names of the couple, then went on to fan out from son Edward, who came to Philadelphia, and his descendants. There is a Kathleen Tinney in Dublin who also has tried to visit up in Donegal to find information buy at this date, no one can say for sure anything about the two.

  This going to be a long shot since this post is over 2 years old but what the heck. I have done a great deal of research on my Tinney family ancestors. The farthest back I can trace is my great great grandfather James Tinney. The details are very sparse even for birth year. At some point around 1865 or so he immigrated to the US. He married a woman by the name of Sarah McGee but I have very little detail on her as well. I noticed you had a James listed as a son an thoght there might be a chance that was him. The timeframe is close. If you do get to see this message I would be interested if any of this lines up and if you have any more details since the last post.
