I have a copy of the 1851 Ireland Census with James McMeekin b abt 1795 and his wife Matilda b abt 1800. They were married 1827, but I can't find any record of this, nor of their births. Hoping someone can help, thanks.

    You don't mention the religious denomination but if they were RC then records for the church in Rasharkin do not begin until 1848 which explains why you have not located records.

    I checked the 1862 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for the parish and there were no McMeekins lsited. The closest record was a James McMeehan.

    I don't believe they were RC, certainly when their son John moved to Scotland the descendants were married baptised etc in the Church of Scotland. I know Rasharkin was (is?) predominantly RC though.
