Hello, two brave girls sailed to Melbourne, Australia on the 17th of December  1841 on the Agostina. Catherine and Ellen Hallahan. My 4x great grandmother is Ellen, I wonder if anyone could give me any clues on if it would be possible to find living family still in Ireland.

Mary 1820. Ellen 1822* July 1824. Catherine, Hannah 1828. Timothy 1830 (went to America) and John 1833

Thank You From Elizabeth Douglas

    Hello again!

The Tithe records from the 1820s for Inchigeelagh showed there were five Hallahan records.

I checked the 1852 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Inchigeelagh civil parish.

There was a Mary Hallahan listed in Graigue townland. Was the mother of the Hallahan children Mary?

I checked the 1901 census for Graigue and there were no Hallahan families living in that townland.

Here is a link to the parish register http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0062  and you can also search www.irishgenealogy.ie

  • Oh and I forgot to say, Catherine Mahoney  born 1802 died December 1882 and was married to William Hallahan I have found nothing on him, just that he has a family member, perhaps a brother Tim who has a farm next to him.

How would I find their church? Perhaps where they may be buried?
