I am trying to find out when my great great grandfather Michael Reade (Reid also) died. I have narrowed it down to sometime between 1901 and 1911 - he is in the 1901 census and not the 1911. I have finally tracked down his wife Ellen and their 2 youngest children in the 1911 census and he is not part of that household, Ellen is also listed as a widow 1911. He was born in Sept 1851 and was 17 years older than his wife. He lived in the area of Ballyhale and Thomastown and I think died in Thomastown. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome back!
I searched the civil death index records in the Thomastown registration district. I used the variant name feature and only found one record that is a possibility but the year of birth is 13 years later than your 1851. See record below. You don't mention the age of the two children but if they were born after 1904, the record I located is incorrect.
Let me know.

Hi, hope you are well, thank you for this. His children were - Mary born Jan 1898 and Thomas born April 1901. I have looked at the census for 1901 again and he puts his age at 55 which makes his birth year as 1845 (this is defantely the right family in 1901 as his wife and children are correct with the correct ages)
I have found a record for Sept 1945 but it is in the Mullinavat area where as his family both before he was born and the generations after him were from the Ballyhale/Thomastown area.
I thought the record showing his birth in Sept 1951 was the correct one because the birth place was Ballyhale.
Is it likely that his father would have moved down to Mullinavat for a period of time, got married and then moved back to Ballyhale?
Sorry but I am now questioning whether I had the right birth record as well as trying to find when he died.
Thank you for your time once again
Jo

I don't think the Mullinavat record is correct if the family was always in Thomastown. You don't mention whether the family was RC or not. If they were RC, here is a link to the parish register.http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/1032
