My Great Great Grandfather Hugh Corrigan was born in County Mayo, specifically Achill Island. I am looking for any relatives still living in this area. He immigrated to Lancashire Co, England where my Great Grandfather Hugh Corrigan was born. Hugh's daughter, my Grandmother Mary Catherine Corrigan, married Richard Thomas Green in Blackburn, Lancashire Co. The information I have is below.
Mary Catherine Corrigan and Richard Thomas Green, married 1908, Blackburn, Lancastershire, England
Hugh Corrigan and Nora Connor (Mary Corrigan's parents), married 1885, Blackburn - Nora Connor's mother was Honora Conner, born in County Mayo. My DNA profile shows 29% Irish and 51% English origin. My grandparents were both born in Blackburn, their daughter Mary Catherine Corrigan married Thomas Green and they came to America, Boston. My mother was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts. I have found some Green relatives in England, but am having a great deal of difficulty finding my grandmother's people in Ireland or in England. My grandmother, Mary Catherine Corrigan considered herself Irish, rather than British. I'd love to find her relatives (where ever they are in the world) and try to connect.
Any help in how to go about finding out where any living (or not) Irish relatives are (or where they were from and/or are buried) would be very greatly appreciated.
Thanks for any help you may be able to give

Hi Sue
The Irish phone book has 12 Corrigans in Achill - Westport.
We are not permitted to send information re living people on the site but I can copy and paste them to a personal email if you want to supply one. If not you can get them at http://www.118.ie/; select person search and enter Corrigan Achill.
You didn't give any dates for Hugh senior's birth; going on Mary being 21 when married in 1908 this would make Hugh junior born about 1857 & Hugh senior 1827.
The only Achill birth/baptism records I could find for Hugh Corrigan on www.rootsireland.ie/ are 1858 to 1879 I'm afraid.
No luck with Nora with mother Honora either.
I have a cd Memorials of the Dead Galway & Mayo
Here are the Corrigan records from Kildavnet Cemetery which is situated on the southeastern coast of Achill Island.
Three associated memorials
1) Lord have mercy on the soul of Hugh Corrigan who died in June 1883 aged 70 years
Erected by Tom Corrigan2) In fond memory of Hugh Corrigan who died in 1871
Erected by his daughter Margaret McGinty 19383) In loving memory of Pat Corrigan Dereens died 22 Feb 1957 aged 89 years also his father Hugh
Erected by his son MartinThere are no Corrigans in Mayo in the 1821, 41 or 51 Irish Censuses but quite a few in Achill in the 1901 & 1911 censuses (free at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/)
Griffiths Valuation (free at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/) has 99 Corrigans in Achill including 6 Hughs
If you click on the magnifying glass you can see the address (but no family members)

Thanks so much for the information. My email is sueseay@bellsouth.net. Please send me any information you have concerning the Corrigans listed in the phone directory. I tried to go to the website you mentioned but got an access denied message for some reason. I appreciate your time and efforts on my behalf - thank you!
