  • Jimmy,

I searched on Find My Past and the most likely match was - First name(s)JosephLast nameFinnRegistration year1937Registered quarter/yearApr - Jun 1937Registration districtLimerickVolume5Page301Mother's last name (original)MaloneCountryIrelandRecord setIrish Births 1864-1958CategoryLife Events (Birth, Marriage, Death)SubcategoryBirths & baptismsCollections fromIreland

You will note the mothers maiden name is Malone.

You can order the bc from the GRO and on that you will get the parents address. At that stage you could perhaps look the family up on the 1901 & 1911 census records and/or look up the Eircom phonebook and see if there are still Finns living in that townsland.

  • Hi Jim,

thanks for getting back to me so quickly, i'm new to all this and struggling a bit so your help is much apriciated. i got confussed with the line that says "year1937Registered quarter/yearApr - Jun 1937" he was born March 27 but i'm assuming as it was 27th it might have been registered April???

I have ordered a certificate for the GRO and hopefully it will give me something to go forward with, i will let you know and again thankyou.
