I am searching for relations of Jacob and Mary Paterson Johnson born 1800. They had 2 sons...John born 1830 in Paulstown, Kilkenny and James born 1832 Leighlinbridge, Carlow. Jacob died 1848 (we think) Mary, John and James all emigrated separately to the US during and shortly after the Famine.
They may have a relative named Rose as both brothers each named a daughter Rose.
I know these facts are true from death certificates of Mary, John and James. John has native of Paulstown on his gravestone. He married Ellen Gaskin of Linkardstown,Co. Carlow. James fought in the US Civil War and mentions Old Leighlinbridge as his place of birth in his civil war pension papers.
I am hoping to visit in Sept 2016 and would love to meet long lost "cousins". Can anyone help? Thank you so much!
Patty

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
On Roots Ireland, I located the June 1833 baptismal record for James. Also found John in 1830 in Leighlinbridge not Kilkenny and also found Rose in 1837. Address is shown as Knockabrana. That was likely a placename in the 1830s but I can't find that name in the current townland list.

Dear Roger,
Thank you for your most excellent research. We wondered about Rose for so long. now I'll have to see if she died before they came to the US, emigrated with them or stayed behind. Many thanks
