I am looking to sort out references to one Philip Harding (1810-1873), my great-great-grandfather. I know my great-grandfather was also Philip and his descendants are fairly well documented in our records. Roger has been helping me with my search for ancestors of Maryanne Riordan, my great-grandmother, married to Philip Harding, b.1841. I'd like to be able to push back into the 1700's, especially on the Harding side, but have not come up with solid information on Philip (1810).
I would like very much to learn about Cork City and County during the period 1750 to 1882 when 5 Harding children emigrated to Camden, N.J. Philip and Maryanne's son Denis being my grandfather. It seems that the family lived in Cork City 8 on Green street. Philip might have been a blacksmith.
Thanks in advance. I know you are quite busy these days and there is no rush on my part. I'd like to know how long my Harding family lived in Ireland and the circumstances of their arrival. Thank you for the work you do.

Dear Richard
There are some less often used sources available for Cork here:
http://www.theirisharchives.com/categories/view/26/1700s
Cork Archives is also a great place to find out more as the archives are a record of the work of the corporation and its staff in terms of infrastructure and services alongside their private collections; http://www.corkarchives.ie/
You could also have a think about what local newspapers of the time for Cork (and surrounding areas like Limerick (another port city) ) might be of use in either the British or Irish Newspaper archives
Best wishes

Hi Clare. Thank you for the information. I will certainly take me some tme to process. I am currently gathering information on birth, marriage, and death documents to be submitted with my request for dual citizenship through my grandfather Denis from Cork city. It's an exciting process and I will needs lot of help as I go along.
Lately I've been concentrating on my grandfather's family, his parents Philip and Mary Ann Reardon and his five siblings, all of whom emigrated to Camden New Jersey in 1882. It is very encouraging to know that there are people like your self who are willing to assist in our education.
Thanks again and I will try to stay in touch as I go along.
