My 3G grandmother came from Kinsale. Her name was Honora Creamer and she was born about 1802. She may have had two sisters: Mary Creamer who was known to be the daughter of John Creamer and Mary Corcoran from Kinsale and Catherine Creamer. Both Mary and Catherine went to Canada and married. Mary married a James Moore from Donegal at St John, New Brunswick. Catherine also married in New Brunswick. Catherine may have married an Irishman by the name of Edward Lennehan.  Does anyone have a connection to these Creamers?

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

The RC records for Kinsale start in 1805-1806 and pick up again in 1815. If Honora was born in 1802 likely her baptismal record is not available. Records for Kinsale are available on this free site www.irishgenealogy.ie Here is the link to the parish register http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0073

You may want to consider autosomal DNA testing. Possibly you will match someone who has more info on your Creamer family.

  • Thank you Roger for these very helpful links.  I have already done an autosomal test but so far no Creamer matches.

  • Sheila, the Cramer family have name a very old association with Kinsale. They lived in Rathmore House about 4 miles outside Kinsale and had an estate there plus being merchants in Kinsale. There actually was a street named Cramer Street in the town but this changed to Emmett Place when Ireland became a republic in 1922. If my memory serves me correct their family tree was once published in the Kinsale Record which is an annual publication by the Kinsale Historical Society. Rathmore House today is a hotel called McDonnells (?) which up to recent months was the Carlton Hotel - you may find it on the internet. Please contact me directly by email michaelbarry1601@yahoo.ie as it will take time to search all 25 volumns of the Kinsale Record to find your family tree.    Kindest regards Michael

  • Could it be possible that those interested in this exploration of Creamer/Cramer share our gedmatch id to explore if we have a DNA match?

    My gedmatch is T437118.

I am German (Herman) G. Creamer, and my family came also from Cork apparently although I do not have any paper trail.

  • AnnieMarie:

I located the 1891 civil birth record for Anne Cramer on Abbey Street in Kinsale. I searched for David in the 1901 census with no success. I did find a census record for an Annie Cramer and her likely younger sister Julia in the Kinsale Industrial School run by the Sisters of Mercy. http://census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Cork/Kinsale_Urban/The_Ram…

Would this record be for your ancestor?

  • Hi Roger,

I believe this is my Nana as I was named after her and my nick name is Annie and her sister Julia I have since found, a bit of a confusing search at the moment as there are 2 Anne's born to the same David and Catherine, 1 born 15 Jan 1883 and Nana born 15 March 1891. Thank you so much for your help. Annemarie
