Hello - I am trying to find information on my Grandfather, Michael John Lynch, and his family. His was born June 14, 1887 in Midleton. His parents were Thomas Lynch and Mary Geary Lynch. Three brothers: John, Timothy and William; and three sisters: Norah (Hannorah), Margaret and Bridget. Michael immigrated to the U.S. in 1907 and I believe all of his siblings immigrated to the U.S. as well, but my great-grandparents remained in Ireland. I have not had much success finding any records in Ireland on Ancestry.com, and I am hoping someone can offer some suggestions. I'm curious to learn if there are relatives still in the area, etc. Thanks.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I have gone back and forth in the 1901 census records and have not yet found Michael and his family. The Midleton DED had 39 Lynchs but no Thomas, no Timothy, no teenage Michael etc.
Did he come into Ellis Island? If so, have you checked the Ellis Island records www.ellisisland.org There should be a page which shows his contact in Ireland and where they lived.

I found his arrival information. He left Queensland on April 4, 1907 on the Cedric and arrived at the Port of New York on April 15, 1907. He lists his last permanent residence as Midleton Co. Cork. It states that he will be joining his brother, John Lynch, in New York at 243 East 121st Street. It does not list a relative in Ireland. The same arrival information is on his Naturalization papers in 1929.

I also found a passport application for his sister, Bridget Mary (Lynch) Mahoney, for her to come to the U.S. It lists Thomas Lynch and Mary (Geary) Lynch as her parents.

I did find these two census listings. They look like it could be my relatives, but Mary's age is different.

Don't worry too much about census ages of adults. The ages in the 1901 census were almost always understated. In 1908 the British government enacted the Old Age Pension process in Ireland and suddently there was a reason to reflect your age accurately or make youself older. You had to be 70 (and prove it) to claim the pension. There were also income limits.
Carrigtwohill was the parish to the west of Midleton. Most immigrants said they were from the nearest big town rather than saying they were from a small place like Ballyrichard. I'm sure you have the right family. Now I know why I could not find Michael since the transcriber showed Mcl. Thanks for sharing your family documents.
Here is a link to the online Irish phone book http://www.eirphonebook.ie/# Make sure you use the Residential Tab. There are over 400 Lynchs in Cork.
You may also want to consider autosomal DNA testing.
