Hi:
I am Dick Byrom and have been trying to locate my great grandfather. His death records at the cementary indicate he came from Antrim. We have no other records of his homeland. He died in Worcester , Massachusetts on February, 8, 1889. His parents were reported to be Archibald and Monica (Foley or Hastings?) Curry on the wedding liscense. His birth has been reported to be from 1816 to 1825 according to census reports. (I guess he didn't know how old he was or others were answering census questions.). His tombstone shows birthdate of 1816. Records show he could not read or write and he was a farmer. Census records shows he was in Massachusetts in 1850 so he must have immegrated before that date. I believe his religious preference was Protestant.
His brother John Curry born 1825 immegrated to Boston in 1849 based on what I coud find. That was based on records from the Irish famine immegration records.
He married Mary Elizabeth Culerton from County Kilkenny, Daughter of John and Margaret Foley in Masasachusetts on 24 November, 1852. She was born in August in 1832..She died Sept 9, 1907 in Worcester, Massachusetts. I believe she may have been Catholic as she live in a Catholic facility in her last days.
They had several children born here in the New England area including John T., Mary Ann, James E., Josephine, Alexander and David C.
I have looked through many sources for information including Ancestory and Family search in Utah. Being a poor? farming family ther may not beve been many records for them. Iwould love to confirm where he came from (Antrim?) and poissibly visit the area.
I would love to visit Carrikfergous also, sometime as our city has been actively joining them as sister cities. Visited Belfast in 1951 but that was before my genelogy interests.
Any thoughts you can provide would be much appreciated.
Dick

Closest match on rootsireland for David is 1817 but father is David & no mother's name; parish is Ballinderry C of I
I couldn't find a matching brother John however
There are no Currys in the Irish Censuses of 1821, 31 or 41 & there are no Antrim records in the Tithe Applotments of 1823-37.

Thanks so much for checking. I picked up the Antrim info from his cemcntary records. They were probably provided by a son etc without much accurate knowledge. I'll see if there are any connections with his wife in Kilkenny. Thanks so much for your help. Dick Byrom
