Hi
My mother Mary Wynters was born in Cork District Hospital on the 28/09/1928. Her birth certificate lists Bridget Wynters as her mother from Ballylanders Michelstown. The birth was registered on 10/10/1928, with a Mary Dwyer as being present.
The story goes that My mother Mary was born out of wedlock and thus was given up at birth and lived a time at Cork Union, where she was eventually adopted.
My mother god bless her is still alive and doing well but we would really love to find out more detail about her family. Ive done a bit of searching and I have come up with the following, which seems to be definitely my mother,

I also found a John Wynters living in New Square, Mitchelstown in the 1911 Census. He was a 30 year old boarder living in the William Baker family, and low and behold Mr Bakers wife was named Bridget. And he also had 2 daughters. Now Im not saying one plus one =2 but it's all i have. I have searched high and low for the mysterious Bridget Wynters but have come up empty handed.
If anyone can assist me in finding out who Bridget Wynters is, who her parents were and if she remarried or had other siblings, we would be greatly appreciative.
Thank you all kindly

Hi Roger . . . I had a look at this enigma . . wrapped up in a conondrum . .
and here's what I have noted . .
William Baker (1911) . . states on Census that he and Bridget are married ONLY one year . . and yet . . there are THREE Baker children . . so . . I found his marriage in 1910 on Ancestry . . as follows . . he is marrying Bridget Casey . . IF . . she is Mitchelstown born . . . then in 1901 she is listed with her family as follows . . .

William eldest sonThomas is recorded (1911) as born 1900 . . . and I find his birth in 1899 on Ancestry in Mitchelstown . . . BUT . . Ancestry dont list the Mothers maiden name . . . here are their coordinates

Hi Eamonn
Thank you very much for those details. It certainly is confusing and difficult to know the truth and I really appreciate your help. Sorry about all the questions below:
Do you also think its possible that Briget Casey married William Baker and if so maybe had an affair with John Wynters? And why would Briget "Wynters" be on my mother Mary Wynters birth certificate? Would it not be Bridget Casey?
And how could it be that in Irland in those times that The Bakers could be married for 1 year but have 3 kids. Woulnt this of been basically impossible?
I also found another Bridget Wynters, possibly the one and only record, but she is listed as born in 1917 which would make her 11 or 12 in 1928 when mum was born. Not impossible I guess.

Do you think the Cork Union or Cork Hospital would have records of my mothers stay there. Apparently she was at Cork Union for some years.
Anyway thank you for your time and considerations.
