I am researching my Great Grandmother and Great Grandfather that lived in Kilbeggan. Joseph Dolan was born in 1863 and his wife Mary McCormack 1861. Mary's parents were John McCormack 1830 and Mary Hughes 1836. Mary had a sister Sarah McCormack 1874 who married George Fuller I understand he worked for the Kilbeggan Brewery and gather he was probaly of English descent and was not Catholic has been told. Both sisters were Music Teachers. I have no information on Joseph Dolans family.
Joseph and Mary had 7 children the eldest being Joseph Dolan who was my Grandfather. He was born in Dublin, but the second and third child Mary and patrick were born in Mullingar I think, the subsequent children were born in Dublin. My mother always said we were related to John McCormack and Joe Dolan. Does anyone have any further information?
The first picture is of John McCormack and Kate Hughes and the other two are Joseph Dolan and his wife Mary McCormack

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
There doesn't seem to be a baptism record for a Joseph in Westmeath in the early 1860s or a record of his marriage to Mary. There are some Dolans in the Griffith's Valuation but it would be difficult to know for sure which, if any are your Dolan family.
Have you tired Find My Past to see if they have any records in relation to George's work in Kilbeggan Brewery?

Hi Clare,
I have been doing more research and through the Census, I now know that Joseph McCormack was married to Sarah Hughes. It looks like they also has some sons and two of them were called Joseph, born 7 years apart, but I know from my Fathers side that it was not unusual if a child died to call a child born at a later date the same name especially as it was after his Father.
Although I was born in Dublin I now live in Western Australia, I was delighted the other day to find a bottle of Kilbeggan Whisky, although I am not a spirit drinker I was drawn to buy a bottle and taste my past... Hopefully, when the world resets back to normality I can arrange a trip to Kilbeggan.
Many thanks and kind regards,
Evelyn
