William Hyde was born circa 1809 in Cork (exact location unknown). He died October 26, 1884 in Butler, Garryowen, Jackson, Iowa, USA. He lived (and farmed) in Iowa from at least 1844. I do not know when he immigrated or if he lived anywhere else in the USA before settling in Iowa. His wife was Margaret Walsh. He is buried in the Catholic Cemetery. .
His sister was Catherine Hyde (spelled Hide on marriage record). She was born around 1810-1815. She married widower Nicholas Loughlin in London 30 Mar 1834 in St George Church, Bloomsbury, Borough of Camden, London, England (Church of England). Cath signed her marriage record with an 'X'.
I found the couple, along with their son, John J (my great grandfather) in the 1841 census (48 Chamber St, Borough of Tower Hamlet, St Mary Whitechapel Parish, London, England). Name misspelled ('Nicholis' Loughline). By 1849 they were living in Williamsburg, Kings, New York, USA. By 1860 the 3 were living in Butler, Jackson, Iowa, USA (same as her brother). I found a couple that may be them in the 1870 census but after that they disapper. I have not located graves. Their son had moved to nearby Dubuque around 1861. By 1870 he (with wife and children) had moved back to Jackson County possibly to care for his aged parents. By 1877 John, wife Elizabeth and children were back in Dubuque. Nicholas Loughlin was a tailor by profession.
William's tombstone says he was born in County Cork. That is all I have on William Hyde and sister Catherine Hyde Loughlin. Am trying, of course to find their parents and other relatives in County Cork.
