My great-grandmother, born Hannah (possibly Johanna) Mulcahy was, according to her accounts, born in Cork City January 1, 1862, the daughter of Eugene Mulcahy and Honora Donoghue. She had two siblings I know of, a sister Bridget and brother Timothy, all of whom immigrated to New York in the 1880's and 1890's. Hannah married my great-grandfather John Duggan from Kilsheelan, Tipperary in New York in 1888 and had eight children, of whom my grandmother Grace was the youngest. We were told Eugene was a cobbler in Cork, specializing in shoes for the disabled. Honora may have been a lace-maker or teacher, and beyond that all other information has been lost. I will be in Ireland 26 May-3 June and will most likely be in Cork sometime during that period. If anyone might be able to help in any way it would be greatly appreciated. P.S. I've been unable to find baptismal records for my great-grandmother and her siblings at the NLI website for the period, but I did find a baptismal record for a Honora Donoghue in Blarney for 1843 which would place her in the right time. I searched on Roots Ireland, a data base on Find My Past and www.irishgenealogy.ie and did not find the baptismal record. If she was born in Cork city then the record would be on www.irishgenealogy.ie which has the records for the Diocese of Cork and Ross including Cork city.

Hi again,
In reference to the above post, I received your last message and followed through, but I am unable to find any information on my family. I've searched every parish birth and marriage record throughout Cork and even surrounding counties and can find no trace of these persons. I've also searched through merchant listings in Cork city and found nothing related to Eugene. I have no reason to doubt our family history as both Eugene and Honora's names and her place of birth are listed on my great-grandmother's death certificate in New York. In fact, her sister Bridget married my great-grandfather's brother Thomas and so we have a large, extended "double" family here in the states all of whom are at a loss as well. I have no idea of where to go at this point and any intervention on anyone else's part would be greatly appreciated. I read all the stories of families that are happily reunited or have found copious records on their families, but I have yet to experience this myself. Hoping someone can come to the rescue. Thanks,

Have you considered autosomal DNA testing. Possibly you will match someone who has Mulcahy or Donoghue connections and can provide info which may help you break down your "brick wall".
