Hello! My lines seem to appear from nowhere, so I hope someone can shed some light.
James Sutton, birthdate unknown, married Catherine Gorman in the Roman Catholic parish of Borris in Carlow on 14 March 1844. The witnesses to the marriage were Thomas McCabe and Mary Gorman - Mary is likely related to Catherine, perhaps a sister. I have not been able to find anything about either of them prior to this point.
The Sutton family lives in St. Mullins, Carlow from at least 1846 until 1878. They are found in Griffith's 1852 on Lot 4e (Rented from Michael Breen. James' name is misspelled Sutley, and he is likely an agricultural laborer on the Breen farm.). In Griffith's 1857, they are on the same lot (Rented from Peter Breen.).
In Griffith's 1874, they are on the same lot, but Catherine is listed as the Widow Sutton, so James died before that time. I have found no record of his death. Griffith's notes that this house was demolished in 1878, and this is therefore the last known residence for the Sutton family in Ireland.
James and Patrick had 4 children that lived to adulthood: Nicholas, Mary, John, Patrick, and Anne. Nicholas came to New York City before 1880. John came to New York in 1881. Patrick came to New York in 1882. Anne came to New York at some point, as she is buried there. It is unknown if Mary also came to New York.
On the same ship as Patrick was a Catherine Sutton. The age was not quite right, but it may have been his widowed mother. I have no record of this person in New York.
So you see that my Sutton-Gormans appear for one brief generation in Ireland and then seem to vanish! Any help would be appreciated.

If you can ever get any further back with your Gorman line we will probably have a connection. My ancestor Daniel Gorman was born 14 kms north abt 1788 in Killcoltrim. He left for Nova Scotia before 1815 however as you are probably aware there were many Gormans in that area. I suspect if Catherine was born in the Borris area is was between 1813 - 1825 a period for which there doesn't seem to be any baptism records.
There is a Catherine baptised in 1803 in Ballyine from Thomas Gorman and Bridget Murphy but she is probably too old.
You may also want to look for Gormoran and Gormican in the same area, however by the early 1800s they seem to have settled on the corrct spelling of Gorman.Sorry I can't be of any help regarding your Sutton line. If you discovwr a connection let me know !

Thanks for the Gorman info! Have you done DNA? If so, I have DNA on GEDMatch, we could compare and see what it says.
