I have records showing my distant ancestor John Maloney (Moloney) immigrated to Peterborough Canada in 1825 as part of the Peter Robinson settlement. His wife was Margaret Dammery. My wife and I will be visiting Cork on a cruise in August and I am interrested in knowing how difficult it will be to find transportation to Brigown and how long it might take. Also would be interrested in knowing what records are available.
Thanks Don Murphy

Don,
This link will take you to the bus timetable for buses from Cork to Mitchelstown. The journey takes about 55 minutes. I suspect your cruise ship will dock at Ringaskiddy, in which case you will need to allow time to get from there to Cork city centre. (I assume the cruise company will have a shuttle service).

I would say a taxi from the ship to Mitchelstown would be quite expensive.
Here’s a list of resources covering the Brigown area. The RC baptism records start in 1792 but there is a gap 1801 – 1814. Marriages start in 1815. The parish records are on-line free on the NLI site: http://registers.nli.ie/parishes
