My great grandmother's maiden name was McManus. While I was doing research on my ancestry I entered the name into Griffiths Valuation. You could also enter a second name to see if they were in the same place at the same time. My wifes fathers name was Mahaffey and when I entered both names it showed a Thomas McManus and a William Mahaffey both in Ballymachugh in 1857. It only listed 13 names in the perish at that time so they had to know each other. I'd like to know if there is any information regarding where they went? My great grandmother was born in Wisconsin.

There was a Thomas McManus in Crover townland and also a William Mahaffey in Crover and it appears another eleven entries for the townland.
What was the name of your great-grandmother and when was she born? From there maybe we can do some additional research.
By the way, the 1901 census for Crover onlu showed three families and none were McManus or Mahaffey.

Thank you for the quick responce. My great grandmothers name was Elizabeth McManus and she was born in 1868 in Eau Claire Wisconsin. I think her fathers name was Daniel and he was born in Ireland.

Do you have a death record for Daniel which might show his parents names? Presumably he was born around 1840. There are a number of RC parishes which have records back to 1840 but a good number do not. If we search for Daniel McManus baptismal records around that time, we will locate some but without the parents names, we can not confirm any of the records.
