I am searching for information on my 3X great grandfather, John NASH. He was born in November 1819 to David Nash and Joanna Hurley in Limerick (per his DC). I have not found what town he was from or if he has siblings.
John left Ireland for Burlington, VT via Saint John, NB, Canada in 1847. He married Jane (O')Sullivan from Queenstown, Cork, in 1858 and they had 12 children, although only 5 survived through adulthood. He remained in Burlington until he died in 1911 at the age of 92.
I have tried searching for baptism records as John and Jane were RC, but have been unsuccessful to date. I would love to find info on John's parents in order to get back even further in my Irish heritage.
If anyone could assist me with my brick wall, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Nash Family:
I searched on Roots Ireland and did not find any baptismal records for children of David Nash and Johanna Hurley. Likely records for their parish do not go back to the 1820 era. I looked at the Tithe listings (1820s) for Co. Limerick and there was a David Nash in Knockavilla townland in Templebredon civil parish. The 1850 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Templebredon parish in Co. Limerick shows a David Nash in Knockeravella townland which I believe is the same townland from the Tithe listing. I don't know if this is your ancestor but it is a lead to consider.
You may also want to consider autosomal DNA testing.

Roger,
Thanks for the info. Yes I did see the David Nash in the Tithe listing you mentioned as well as in the Griffiths, Valuation, but haven't been able to tie him to any spouse J. Hurley or a son named John yet. I am going back to the Town (s) again dig a little deeper this time.
Thanks again....Kathryn☺

I too have NASH family from Limerick who immigrated to the USA in 1840's and had children in Canada and Vermont. Mine are James B Nash (b.1817) m. Margaret Johnston (b.1813, Scotland) and Patrick Nash (b.1814) m. Johanna Seanhan (b.1817, Ireland). They settled in St. Paul, MN and Patrick help to establish and maintain the sewer system. James fought in the Civil War and later worked for the railroad in St Paul. Interested to know if your David and my Nash family are connected.

Hi! I apologize for such a delay in responding to your post .....
The only Nash that I still am pursuing came over through Saint John, NB and settled in Burlington, VT. I don't know if he had siblings and/or if they even left LIMERICK. I found him in the 1850 VT census as a single boarder.
He did marry in 1858, a Jane Sullivan from Cork. They did have children, but the Nash men stayed in ,Burlington.
I do not see a connection at this point, unfortunately! I'll let you know if I find anyone who may help your end...
Thanks again for your post
