Hello, I am seeking information regarding James Renahan and his wife Mary Walsh. James was born about 1815 in Grange, Limerick. (I think he was born there -- his records assert that he is from there.) I have a record that suggests he married Mary Walsh on 12 August 1826 in Galbally and Aherlow, Limerick and Tipperary, Ireland (once of those?) I believe Mary died in 1859 (in Ireland? or in NYC?). They had a daughter (my great great grandmother), Mary Renahan in Parish Grange, County of Limerick, about 1833, and a son Patrick Renahan, aboutn 1857 in Parish Grange, County of Limerick, Ireland.
Does anyone have any similar family relations or know where I could gather more information on this line?

Kathleen:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I located an 1833 baptismal record (see below) for Patrick on Roots Ireland in Bruff/Grange parish with the parents you listed but I did not find any records for a Mary Renahan. There are also records for two possible siblings to Patrick: Honora 1842 and Daniel 1846. As you indicated there is an 1826 marriage record in Galbally/Aherlow for a James Renahan and Mary Walsh but I'm not sure if this is the same couple with the baptismal records. Galbally is in the east of Co. Limerick near the Tipperary border and Bruff/Grange parish is in the western part of the county.
I don't see a James Renahan baptized around 1815 in Bruff/Grange and he would have been eleven or so to be married in 1826 in Galbally.
Let me know if you have other information.

Hello Roger or anyone else who may be able to help me. I am thinking of taking a trip to Parish Grange, County Limerck to explore the area that my ancestor James Renehan around 1815. His wife's name was Mary Walsh. I know this information to be true from a cemetery marker in New York City for Mary Hagney. It stated her father's name (James Renehan) and her mother's name (Mary Walsh). My records for Mary reflect that she was born in 1833 -- this information was gained from an obituary notice that refelcted her age at the time of her death.
I thought if we stayed in the location we mas well.
I thought I might find some clues about this family line but I'm not sure where Parish Grange, County of Limerick is located since I am seeing informaton about Parish Bluff for this location as well.
Thanks.

Hi Kathleen!
I'm not a Co. Limerick expert ( I live north of Baltimore) and I do not have any Limerick connections.
Here is a link to the RC parish of Bruff which also has a Grange church as a subordinate church in the parish.

Bruff is in south central Limerick not far from the Co. Cork border. Use Google Maps to see the location. By the way, not sure why I said western part of Limerick in my response to you in July 2016.
Let us know if you finalize your trip plans and hopefully we can get someone local to assist.

Dear Kathleen:
We have a few Limerick volunteers who may be able to assist you as Grange is nearby to a number of them. I have copied them with your query. There are several volunteers who have been active in Historic Graves (including myself) so that it is a very good site to check out for ancestors' headstones.
You should hear from one of the volunteers shortly (within a week or so). When are you visiting Ireland? Let us know and we can try to assist you further.
Kind regards,
Jane.

Thank you everyone for your replies! I appreciate any suggestons regarding where to stay so I am somewhat near Parish Grange, County of Limerick to allow me to explore the area my 3 times great grandfather, James Renahan, came from. I'm not sure whether James who married Mary Walsh ever came to New York City, New York, USA but his daughter Mary did and was married to John Haigney/Hagney/Hageney.
I look forward to your assistance regarding where to stay. I am, as of this writing, thinking of going in September 2019. Thanks.
