Jeremiah Hallinan may be my great x2 grandmother's brother (Hannah Hallinan). I found him on the 1852 Griffith's Valuation for Annagarrity. His name also appears as sponsor for the baptism of her son William Jeremiah Keenan in Fermoy 1868. I have found several Hallinans around Cork but no baptism record and therefore no parents names for Hannah. Can anyone point me in the right direction please ?

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I checked Roots Ireland for Hannah Hallinan baptismal records in Co. Cork and the earliest they have is 1879. I also looked for Johanna Hallinan records and there was one in 1840 (see below) but the parish was Inniscarra which is a good deal to the southwest from Fermoy. If your Hallinans were from an area further south and west then their records would be in a parish of the Diocese of Cork and Ross. Those records are not on Roots but a free Irish government site www.irishgenealogy.ie
Let me know if you have questions.

Thank you Roger ! Would Hannah translate as Johanna ? If so, this could be her. The English census' she appeared in put her birth at @ 1842, so would fit. I will look more closely at the records for Inniscarra - I love the irishgenealogy.ie site - fantastic resource ! I have been having trouble locating Hannah's roots because she married a soldier ( Felix keenan ) and moved around a lot. Thank you once again. Shirley.

Yes, Hannah and Johanna were usually interchangeable.

Thanks again Roger. I am spending as much time as possible looking at the Inniscarra records, and have found more children, but not Jeremiah so far, and think he would cement the family connection. Your site is wonderful, and I have told my Australian 'cousin' about it. You have been so helpful, I can't thank you enough ! Kind regards, Shirley.
