My name is Michael Corrigan. I live in Auckland, New Zealand. My great great grandfather was Samuel Corrigan (b. abt 1787). He died on 30 May 1859 (NI Will Calendar Index). He was a farmer in Derryscollop. He married Alice Cross about 1819. I have no other details of their marriage. I believe Samuel and Alice had eight children, as follows:
Mary Anne (abt 1820 - 21 May 1856) m. 1852 to William Rolston
Sarah (abt 1821 - 9 Dec 1876) m. 1848 to William Orr
Robert (abt 1826 - 27 Dec 1882) m. 1862 to Lydia Ann (maiden name also Corrigan)
Thomas (1827 - 15 Jan 1908) m. 1862 to Charlotte Richardson Goodlatte
William (1831 - 3 Jan 1909)
Eliza Jane (1833 - Sep? 1909)
John (abt 1837 - 4 Jan 1916) m. 1865 Ruth Whaley
Alicia Margaret (1841 - 15 May 1919) Spinster - never married.
The Ulster Historical Foundation database records a gravestone inscription from the Moy graveyard in the Parish of Clonfeacle. The CORRIGAN-ORR family plot holds the remains of:Samuel & Alice, Samuel's brother John, Samuel's children, Sarah Orr & Robert, and Robert's wife Lydia Ann (aka 'Annie').
Thomas and Charlotte Richardson Goodlatte were my great grand parents. Thomas died in 1908 and is buried in Malahide, Dublin. (Date of death obtained from 'Find a Grave' website - Memorial #44933053). Alice died in 1890. Date of death confirmed from 'Find a Grave' website - Memorial #44933050. Charlotte died aged about 50 years. She is buried at St Andrew Cemetery, Malahide, Dublin, Ireland.
I am keen to find more information about my ancestors, in particular:
1. Samuel Corrigan's parents. Details are scant. Possibility that Samuel's father's name was Robert. No details for mother.
2. Confirmation that Robert Corrigan married Lydia Ann Corrigan. Some research I have found online (ancestry.com) suggests that Lydia's surname before her marriage was Corrigan. I have had difficulty verifying this using online sources.
I would be grateful of any assistance you can offer to aid my research into this branch of my family tree.
Kind regards - Mike Corrigan.

Hi Helen
Thank you for replying to my post. It would appear we are distant cousins. It's nice to make your acquaintance.
I had traced your great grand parents John and Ruth (Whaley) Corrigan and their 8 children via ancestry.com. However, I had no marriage details for Robert William. Thanks for the information you provided.
Unfortunately I am still at a road block with the 'top end' of the tree. We know Samuel Corrigan (1787-1859) married Alice Cross (1796-1880). They had 8 children. Two of those children were your great grandfather John Corrigan (1837-1916), and his brother, Thomas Corrigan (1827-1908) who was my great grandfather. We also know that Samuel, our great great grandfather, had 2 brothers, Robert (1781-1853) & John (1792-1859). Interestingly, John died 29 May 1859 and Samuel died the following day. There are a number of records online recording these facts, including a copy of Samuel's last will & testement.
As far as I can determine our great great great grandfather was Robert Corrigan (1755-1827), although I cannot be 100% certain of that. The details I have found are a little sketchy. I have no details of his wife.
Kind regards.
Michael Corrigan (Auckland, NZ)
