  • Mandy,

Some dates of birth or for the marriage would be helpful. Also what denomination were they?

apologies, I posted this without adding the information :)

James Clarke (1827 Co. Femanagh and died 1895 Lanarkshire Scotland) and Margaret Paisley (1826 Co. Fermanagh and died 1888 Glasgow scotland)

This is the marriage information I have:

14 May 1853 • Parish of Linaskea in County Fermanagh, N. Ireland

According to son James birth cert. Witnesses William Palmer and William Henderson. Registrar Thomas Scholes. Neither could write and so made their mark. Also info taken from Family search. Film source 101368. ref No. 2:3QG9NNV

     James father  was Noble Clarke

    Margarets father was Robert Paisley.

If possible I would like some information on both Robert and Noble and their relative spouses.

I also have these posible relatives Thomas Clarke 1797

    John Clarke- no date

A lady named Mary Ann Dalton 1827 - 1911- married a Noble Clarke, but I am not sure if these are all related to James Clarke my 3rd G Grandfather.

Your help. is very much appreciated. I have hit a brick wall with much confusion.

    Kind reagrds

  • Mandy,

The marriage certificate should give you the couples townlands (addresses) and fathers names and occupations. These may enable you to trace the families in Griffiths Valuation and in the revaluation records that take the initial records forward. Both these sets of records  are on-line.

    http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml

    https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/proni

If the families were Church of Ireland, then the early records for Aghalurcher are not on-line anywhere so far as I am aware. There are copies in PRONI (the public record office) in Belfast. Note that there were several churches in the parish and so several different sets to be searched. They start in 1788. Baptisms and burials from 1842 are on-line on this site:

    http://www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/ire/fermanagh/church.htm

Try also the Fermanagh Gold site: http://search.atavus.org

A clue as to whether the Noble Clarke who married Mary Ann Dalton is connected to your family will be whether his townland and occupation matches the information on the 1853 marriage cert.
