Hello,
Interested in connecting to anyone with Thomastown and area connections to the above family names. My Great-Grandfparents were Peter Briody (b. 1869) and Elizabeth Westerman, (b. 1884). Elizabeth's parents were Michael Westerman and Mary Kavanagh. Michael had Tynan and Marnell ancestors on the maternal lines.
There are some links to the Walsh and Ford families as well but I'm not certain exactly where they fit in.
Thanks and looking forward to connecting with anyone who can share information and help.
Best wishes from Canada!
Lilian

Hi Lilian
Hopefully some Thomastown cousins will be in touch with you. Have you already had a look at the 1901/1911 Census just to see who is listed there at that time?
Best wishes

Unfortunately I don't see any connection with my Walshes, but I did notice some Kavanaughs buried in Thomastown -- the Church's website has helped me a lot. Hopefully it helps you too. http://www.thomastownparish.ie/ourparish/memorials-of-the-dead/in-memory/

Hello and thank you both for the replies....
Clare,
Yes, I have looked at the two census for information and hoping to get information from earlier generations, partuclarly from the Kavanagh/Tynan/Kealy/Marnell families.
M. Raycroft,
Thanks for the parish memorial link. The Walsh connection is distant and not on my direct line... I forgot to add there's also a connection to the Kealy family as well.
Best wishes from Canada!

Lillian: My great grandfather was John Marnell, born in Queens County, 1832. I have a certain amount of information on him such as he married Mary Ann Kane, became a membe of the RIC, was pensioned and spent most of his life in County Antrim, Lisburn, Belfast. I also have a 10 page research and copy of a Marnell Family Tree which was sent to me from a Marie Booth, living in England. Her family tree is mostly Marnells from Co. Tipperary and Kilkenny. There is one name on her tree that is my relative, Dominic Marnell, died 18th of March, 1918 in Egypt in WWI. If you would like me to send you this 12 page research and family tree just reply and tell me how/where to mail it. Thanks, Alice Marnell Galcik, New Jersey, USA

Hi Alice,
Very sorry for the delay in response. I would very much like to see the research you mention, especially as it relates to a Marnell from Kilkenny. My link to them is Honora Marnell, born in 1790. She married Thomas Westerman (b.1784), in Kilkenny (St Mary). Sadly, that's all the information on Marnell's that I have but she is on of my G-G-G-Grandmothers...
My email is mann@wightman.ca
Thanks again for the contact and kind offer to share.
Best wishes from Canada!
