I am searching for the names of siblings of either of my great grandparents Daniel Collins(born 1828) and Barara Diver (born 1835)in Donegal county, conwal parish. They emmigrated to Canada in 1880 on the Peruvian. Before they left they leased land in the Tullygay Townland (Sallaghagrane Townland is also mentioned in baptismal records)..but Barbara was originally from Ardganny. They had 7 children who were baptised in St Eunan's Cathedral in Letterkenny starting with Charles in 1859, Patrick 1861, Daniel 1863, John 1870, Sarah 1872, Joseph 1874 and Bernard 1880. When they emigrated they came to join my great grandfathers brothers who had preceeded him to Canada.
I have discovered a name "Phelix Collins" from literature from the area in Canada where they settled and am trying to see if that could possibly be a brother. I have no record of the names of Daniel's parents.
My great grandmother Barbara's family is a mystery to us as well...we believe her parents were Fanny & Patrick Diver...and other names associated with baptisms in the cathedral were Hanna and John Diver.
Did any of Daniel's family remain in Ireland? Is there any record of Barbara's family? Did they stay in Ireland? We have been to the Island on 3 occasions and would like to return and find long lost relatives if possible.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Unfortunately, RC records for Letterkenny RC parish start in 1853 so likely no records exist for the Divers and Collins' families.
I also checked the 1901 census for Tullygay townland and there were no Divers listed and only one Collins-- a Susan Collins age 49. http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Donegal/Ballymacool/Tu…
Have you considered autosomal DNA testing?

Hi Jann
I have been tracing my Collins ancestors in Hastings County, Ontario for over 20 years. I take a look online every so often to see if anything new pops up. And here I am at your post.
Upon seeing the name Phelix Collins I suspected that your Collins family came to Hastings County. And I believe I am correct?
I strongly suspect that my great great grandfather Edward Collins was related to the Stoco Collins families
If you would like to exchange information I am most willing to share Is the some way to exchange emails without posting tomthe public forum?
Bye for now
