Hi all,
Here is the message I posted re: my Keenan relatives. If you have any information on my ggg grandmother, Sarah Jane McQuoid;b. 1814;IRL or her family, please drop me a line. Been hitting this brick wall for 20 years.

Hi all:
After many years and with the help of a group of dedicated Keenan researchers from around the globe, we have finally found the town of origins for my Keenan line in Greyabbey, Co.Down. Many years ago I had found the baptismal information for my gg grandfather, John Keenan, b. 1835, IRL from a Kircubbin church. Thanks to information from the 1911 census, William Keenan indicated his father, John Keenan; b. abt. 1812;IRL ( and brother to my Felix Keenan;b. 1814;IRL) was from Greyabbey.
I still am at a loss to find the town of origins for my ggg grandmother, Sarah Jane McQuoid; b. 1809,IRL, wife of Felix Keenan; b. 1814, IRL. Any information re: any of these families would be greatly appreciated.
Note: Felilx, Sarah and family moved to the Dearham, Cumberland, ENG area about 1845. My line stayed in the Cockermouth area until my gr grandparents immigrated to the Rochester, NY area about 1900. John James and Mary Berry Keenan;b. 1865;Cumberland, ENG had tried a stint in Southwest Pennsylvania but returned to Cockermouth after a number of years. At the urging of their son, Jack Keenan, they tried and stayed in the Rochester location which many of my large Keenan family continues to call home.
Best regards from Western NY

I assume the family were RC. Greyabbey is in Ballygalget RC parish. Their baptism records only start in 1828 so if Sarah Jane came from there you aren’t going to find her birth from that source.
Some McQuoids in Co Down on this site (search McQuaid too as that’s the same name):
