William Stott b c1814, married Jane Dempster (Damester) 2 Sep 1835. Belfast News-Letter Tuesday 8 Sep 1835 "On 2nd ult. by the Rev. Andrew Breaky, William Stott Esq to Jane eldest daughter of Robert Damester, both of Killyleagh." They had three sons John Wesley Stott b. c1847 (immigrated to Austalia), Charles Wesley Stott b. 1849, William Dempster Stott all born in Belfast I think.
At a later date I found in the "Belfast Morning News, 4 Feb 1862 - Mark of Respect in Antrim - (From a Correspondent) - Mr. William Stott, late manager of the gasworks, Antrim, having recently been appointed to a similar situation in Cookstown, a few of his friends in the former town waited upon him before departure and presented him with a handsome gold watch-chain, in recognition of his personal worth and as a token of the esteem in which, during his redence in Antrim, he has been held by the inhabitants generally, both as an efficient public officer and an exemplary member of the society. Mr. Stott carries with him to his new sphere of duty the sincere wishes of many friends for the welfare of himself and that of his family.
This fits in with the marriage of John Wesley Stott and his wife Sarah Dougall as they were married in Cookstown and John recorded his father as William Stott, gas manager.
I would appreciate any information on this family. Thanks Jackie

Jackie,
Here’s William’s probate abstract. He was 77 when he died. You can view his death cert on the GRONI site for £2.50 (sterling).
The Will of William Stott late of Cookstown County Tyrone Retired Gas Manager who died 10 April 1891 at same place was proved at Armagh by John Wilson Fleming of Ballymenagh Cookstown P.S. Clerk and Thomas Derby of Cookstown Merchant both said County the Executors.
You can read the will itself on-line on the PRONI wills site:
http://apps.proni.gov.uk/DCAL_PRONI_WillsCalendar_IE/WillsSearch.aspx
The will mentions a wife Catherine (so did he remarry?) plus daughters Annie Matilda Stott and Elizabeth White of Belfast.
Some Stotts & Dempsters of Killyleagh mentioned on this site:

Thanks Elwyn
I had found the will of William Stott and he had a wife named Catherine, I was not sure if he was mine even thou there shouldn't be too many William Stott with the same occupation and living in Cookstown. I have not found another marriage for him. Strange that he did not mention either of his sons in the will. In the 1901 & 1911 census Charles Wesley Stott (son of William) was also a gas manager in King Co. John Wesley Stott had immigrated to Australia and William Dempster Stoot was suppose to moved to England (I got htis information from an obituary of John Wesley Stott (his brother)

Each town had one small gasworks. You wouldn’t get two different people named William Stott both in charge of Cookstown gas works around the same time. So I think it has to be your family.
Elizabeth Stott married James White in Cookstown 16.4.1874. You can view that cert on the GRONI site.
There’s a White family in Ethel St, Belfast in 1901 & 1911 that might be them.
Probate abstract:
Administration of the Estate of James Blair White late of 8 Ethel Street Belfast Stationer who died 14 March 1913 granted at Belfast to The Reverend William M. White Clerk.

Thanks once again Elwyn
I have not found another marriage of William Stott and Catherine ?. I did wonder whether Jane Dempster may of had another name either Catherine Jane or Jane Catherine. Rev William M White mentioned in the Admistration of James White may be a son and he was named after his grandfather William Stott?
I will check out all that you have sent me and I really appreciate all your help.
