Earliest James King record 1834-1911, buried 4 Feb 1911 Dundonald Cemetery.
Son James King 1869-? Bef. 1923 Belfast
Son James King 1900-1987 Belfast born, death Montreal Quebec, C of I or Presbyterian
Emily Ellen Mageean 1874-? Downpatrick, possibly RC religion
My GF James Alexander King born 1900 was child of JAK and EE Mageean. My GF birth and baptism certificate list Mother "Emily King formerly Mageean", "James Alexander King Father".
A)1901 Ireland Census:
James King son, 32 years, Presbyterian Earl St. Belfast, also family listed, his father JK 66 years old
Emely Caravias daughter 24 years, , widow Trafalgar St., also family listed, her mother MJ Savage (remarried) and first son Nicholas Caravias 5 years old.
B) JAK GF, was resident of Belfast Workhouse in 1911, along with half-brother NIcholas. They both emigrated as BRitish Home Children in 1911 to Ottawa or Montreal.
C) 1908 EEM mother MJ (Savage) probate will "to my grandson Nicholas Caravias", again no JAK listed. MJS reverted to her first married name MJ Mageean.
My BRICK WALLS: 1)What happened to Emily, no marriage or death certificates. Perhaps died as her children James and Nicholas were in B Workhouse.
2) Where and why was JK, GF, not listed woth either parent in 1901 Census? There were other family listed in Census also; and Nicholas was with Emily, also no record of JK, GF, in His GM 1908 probate.
3) Any JK records pre-1834?
Any suggestions, assistance very much appreciated.

James King b c 1834 seems to have been married to Mary Douglas. I can see the following children in the GRONI indexes, post 1864 (when birth registration started):
Mary 3.3.1867
James 27.1.1869
Richard 27.1.1869
Unnamed female 29.3.1871
Rosetta (indexed as Rosella) 8.5.1873.
All born Belfast.
I can’t see James and Mary’s marriage in the civil indexes. If you can find that marriage, it should give their fathers details. Both James & Mary were born in Belfast but before civil registration so you would need to know which church they have been baptised in, to trace them. (There are about 50 Presbyterian churches in Belfast, so not an easy task).
According to Nicholas Caraveas’ birth cert (registered by his mother), his father was Angelo Caraveas, a sea captain: “at sea. No dwelling place on shore”. Emily gave her surname as Caraveas, formerly Magean. I can’t see any marriage in Ireland. Perhaps she was married outside of Ireland. Perhaps she wasn’t married at all. (No documentation was required and so it would be down to what she told the registrar).
Can’t help you with what happened to Emily after 1908. Can’t locate her in the 1911 census or in the death indexes, though with the different surnames she had, it’s difficult to be certain.
