Hello, I am seeking the birth or baptism of a Johanna MURPHY born about 1818 in Enniskillen, she was also known as Ann Murphy, her father is Denis Murphy, a Shoemaker, mother unknown.
On her marriage certificate in 1841 it states her name as Ann Murphy alias Johanna Murphy, she married in London, England, one of the witnesses was a Myles Murphy, possible brother perhaps or relative?
My great great great grandfather was a Denis Murphy born about 1824 in Ireland, his father also was Denis a Shoemaker, hoping Ann might be my Denis's sister, I do not know where my Denis was born either, but at least Ann gave her birthplace as Enniskillen on one of the English census's.
Hoping someone can help, thank you

Hello again!
We have the same issue with the Enniskillen records which do not start until 1838. http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0308
If Johanna was born in that parish then a baptismal record is not available. Civil registration did not start until 1864.

Hi Roger,
With records not starting until 1838, were births/baptisms or even marriages or deaths Recorded in some other way or perhaps in another Parish nearby?
It looks like anyone born prior to 1838 there is no record of, in which case how does one find family members from back then?
Thank you for your help with this

If the church did not maintain the information then no records are available until civil registration started in 1864. You can see from the parish register link that I sent to you that Enniskillen had marriage records starting in 1818. The related baptismal records from 1818-1837 were lost at some point over the years. Likely a priest misplaced or threw out the baptismal records.
