I'm looking for any information regarding the ancestors of my Great grandmother's side of the family.  They are James Jolly and wife Magdalen Martin Jolly.  James was a soldier in the British army and lived from about 1784 to 1877, Magdalen lived from about 1801 to 1884.  They had 6 children, Hugh, Kate, James J., Pattison, Maggie and Irwin.  James J. was my GG Grandfather on my Great Grandmothers side.  He came to the United States about 1852  and settled in Pennsylvania.  He died in 1912.  Any information about his parents would be much appreciated, especially a list of sources that I could investigate.

  • Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I wasn't able to locate a marriage record for James and Magdalen. Have you managed to learn anything further about James through his military record?

In the meantime, I wanted to invite you to add your ancestor's details to our XO Chronicles. You can learn more about it HERE and it might be another avenue to consider so that your ancestor's details can be seen by others.

    Best wishes
