My research has led me to learning where my great grandfather Patrick Rahilly (Mary Sugrue) originated. Oldest record I have found is a Poverty Relief Loand in 1843 when he was 21 yrs @ Newtown, Templebredon, Limerick. I knew nothing more until recently. I found a John Rahilly/Mary McNamara in Askeaton. They had 8 children that I know of: Patt/1852, Michael/1854, Thomas/1856, Catherine/1857, Meriam/1859, Johanna/1861, Elizabeth/1863 and Anne/1866. Who I believe to be my Patrick Rahilly appears to be a sponsor @ Meriam's baptism (w/Mary McNamara. Patrick Rahilly and wife Mary Rahilly appear as sponsors for Elizabeth and Ann. For a variety of reasons I believe Patrick and John are likely brothers although at the baptism date they lived appros 57km apart. Both Patrick's and John' children were born in the same range of years. I have always (for a number of reasons) question the validity of Patrick (or earlier ancestors) being originally from the Newtown/Templebredon area. Learning if John /Patrick are brothers woud support my thought. It is entirely possible that John is also not from Askeaton originally. My suspition, and thats all it is at the moment, is that they came originally from Kerry. I am looking for anyone that might be researching/have any information on either the Rahilly or McNamara from Askeaton area. I am looking forward to hearing from anyone with any information.

Dear Kevin
I hope someone with a connection to the family will be in touch. In the meantime, I wanted to invite you to add your ancestor's details to our XO Chronicles. You can learn more about it HERE and it might be another avenue to consider so that your ancestor's details can be seen by others.
Best wishes

I've been searching many, many years for the birthplace of my great-grandfather Michael McNamara whose father was Thomas McNamara and mother was Mary(don't know her maiden name). I found a birth record for a Michael McNamara born in Askeaton in 1838 to a Thomas McNamara and Mary McMahon but don't know if he's the one I'm looking for. If you uncover any more information about your Askeaton Mary McNamara would you kindly let me know,i.e., could my Thomas possibly be her brother, for example? Michael emigrated to New York in the 1860's and was a Coachman.
