    Welecome to Ireland Reaching Out!

There are a few RC parishes in Co. Wexford which hasve records back to 1800. I checked Roots Ireland and did not locate a baptismal record with the parents you listed.

I looked at the Tithe records from the 1820s and 1830s and there was one Michael Turner listed. If your ancestor was still alive then this would be a lead.

You may want to consider autosomal DNA testing. Possibly you will match someone with Turner connections who has more info on the family in Wexford.

  • Thank you Roger.  I had previously checked the tithe applotments and agree that this Michael Turner & George Turner from Donaghmore, could possibly be my Turner's.  I always wondered where the name George came from.  Perhaps Michael & George were brothers.

Any suggestions, besides DNA, that I could research?  Marilyn

No additional suggestions. Your ancestors go back to the early 1800s and resources are limited.

  • New Info.  Now have 1834 parish register of marriage for Mary Ann Turner and John Fitzsimmons in which the parish priest noted that John Fitzsimmons was from the parish of Ballincooly, Wexford and Mary Ann Turner from the parish of "Donamore"[sic].  This parish of Donaghmore I believe ties in with the above 1831 Tithe Applotment, Donaghmore, for her father Michael Turner and also George Turner, possibly her brother or uncle.

Thanks for the update and continued success with your research.

he RC parish for Donaghmore civil parish would be Ballygarrett and here is the link to the parish register

    http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0574

There is no townland or parish spelled Ballincooly. The closest townland would be Ballincoola and that name is found in three different civil parishes: Ardholm, Templeshanbo and Kilnahue.

We now have an XO Chronicles site where you can post your ancestor stories https://www.irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-dat…

Possibly Patrick was killed in the Rebellion  https://www.irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/message-board/margaret-mcdonnell-h…;  John may also have been injured in the battles  and died in July.
