I am looking for information on my McCaffrey ancestors.  I have traced my great, great grandmother to County Cavan, Annagh Parish in Ireland.

Her name is Ann McCaffrey.  She was born about 1843 in County Cavan.  She emigrated to the United States (although I am not sure of the year).  I have court documents where Ann states that she came to the US "as a young girl".  By 1860, she is living in Nesquehoning, Pennsylvania, United States.  Her father's name is Michael McCaffrey and she has one brother named John McCaffrey.  John was born in June 1847 in County Cavan, Annagh Parish.  Ann and John remained close and lived very near each other in Nesquehoning.

If anyone has any information about this family or can point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Roots Ireland indicates they have Annagh RC records back to 1800. However, when I search for all McCaffrey baptisms in Annagh with father Michael, I get two records. See below. They have different mothers so not siblings. You indicate that Ann's brother John was born in June 1847. Do you have his baptismal record.

  • Hi Roger,

I do not have any baptism information on any of the family members.  I noticed that there are Annagh parishes in Kerry and Mayo.  I think I should check there as well.

    Thank you.
