Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Since you posted in Adare parish, I assume Michael was from that parish. The RC records for the parish start in 1832 after Michael had left. http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0856
I checked the 1827 Tithe listings for the parish and there were three Quin tenants: Derby (possibly Darby) in Curraghbeg townland and Rudeen and Andrew in Tuogh. Possibly one of the three was the father of Michael. Do you have his death record or know his parents names?

First of all I must admit that Adare is a guess...all I have for certain is Limerick. Michael told family he came from Limerick and his wife, (second wife) would say "well I am from Connaught". Michael was married to Mary Rafferty first and she died very young leaving him with a son, Albert, who was born in 1837 in Michigan, U.S. I don't know for sure if they were married in Ireland or in the U.S. I have looked for marriage registration for them but haven't found anything. If the naming patterns for the Irish were followed, his father would have been Albert. Thank you for your help!
