John Joseph Hogan, born in Limerick, Ireland, was the first Bishop of the Kansas City-St. Joseph Diocese. I am working on a genealogy project for our annual Irish Festival and looking for family information on Bishop Hogan.
I beleive he was born on or about 1829 in Bruff, Limerick, Ireland and maybe in the Grange Parish, Limerick. He came to the US in about 1847 and was ordained in 1852. His family might be James and mother, Ellen.
Do any records exsist regarding this man? Your efforts are appreciated.
Thank you, Colleen O'Gorman

Colleen:
Welcome back!
Below from Roots Ireland is the 1829 baptismal record for a John Hogan in Bruff. The date of baptism matches the info on Wikipedia but no way of knowing if Wikipedia is correct. This John Hogan had three older siblings: Mtn (Martin?) 1822 Bridget 1825 Patrick 1827.
