The will of Samuel Williamson of Cork (1808-1872) as found in the Original Will Registers 1858-1920 on Find My Past mentions a brother William B Williamson of Worcester, England. The latter is (via an adoption) my Great Great Grandfather. Samuel's address is given as Lavitts Quay - which I think is in St Pauls Parish (?), Cork City.
I believe there was another brother, possibly George, who had a son Thomas (possibly George Thomas) b New Jersey c1845. Thomas appears as a Tinplate worker with his Uncle William Blizard Williamson in the census of 1861 at Worcester (England). Thomas may have been involved in the ACW.
William Blizard Williamson and his wife Elizabeth give their place of birth as Cork Ireland in English Census Records. I do not know details of their marriage - or her surname. William died in England as a Congregationalist, but some sources indicate that when in Ireland he was a member of The Brethren.
I believe that Samuel and William's father was Thomas Williamson - I do not know their mother's detail.
I am looking for:
- Birth details of the three brothers (and any possible sisters) .
- Confirmation that they are from Cork (and not comers-in from elsewhere). Family rumour has it that generations before they may have been in LIverpool.
- William's marriage details and details of his bride.
- Any details of Thomas (Senior) and his wife.
- Any details of the Thomas born in New Jersey.
- Contact with relatives or fellow researchers.

Hello David, I am looking over old queries and since you posted the church records have come online free for Cork (I so someitmes find ones not there) and if your ancestors are outside the main religions they may not have digitised records or in some cases not released them.
However a search throws back a lot of Williamson people, also Williams, I must confess to getting a smile from what i assume is one of your ancestors and his occupation, beats one of mine who was a gent, this one has occupation listed as Englishman.
There are a lot of Willaimsons and not all in the city, Schull has a lot and so have other places, parts of Cork particularly around Bandon have many names which apparently were also found on the Mayflower, and while on holiday in East Cork about 30 years ago I was on a tour of an old house (for tax purposes these open for a month or so annually) and apparently John Bunyon author of the Pilgrims Progress stayed there, also Sir Walter Raleigh lived in Youghal for some time, house still stands as was listed for sale in the last few years.
There is a Margaret Williamson (RC) born in 1830 living on Lavitts Quay.
Name MARGT WILLIAMSON
Address LAVITTS QY
Father WM WILLIAMSON
Mother RACHAEL MAGRATH
Further details in the record
Sponsor 1 JUDITH REARDON
Recorded Parochial Area ST. PETER & PAUL'S, CORK
Now the one I think may be more relevant is given as Sullens Quay which may be Sullivans Quay, the other address means nothing t me and I have lived in Cork for many years long ago.
Area - CORK & ROSS (RC) , Parish/Church/Congregation - CORK - SOUTH PARISH
Marriage of ANDW WILLIAMSON of ST BARRY'S and JANE CORBET of SULEN'S QUAY on 19 October 1802
Husband Wife
Name ANDW WILLIAMSON JANE CORBET
Address ST BARRY'S SULEN'S QUAY
Occupation ENGLISHMAN
Further details in the record
Recorded Parochial Area ST FINBARR'S SOUTH, CORK
Witness 1 RICHD SEGAR'S (WITNESS FOR HUSBAND)
Witness 3 A BAISLY (WITNESS FOR WIFE)
No sign of witness 2, the site is here and I will leave you to search but I do not see Samuel, click on church icon and insert Cork in Location, limited church records on it, Cork; Kerry and Dublin. Civil records for Protestant marriages commence in 1845 and all BMDs from 1864 click on civil in that case. https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/
You could check Cork City Library to see if their archives or local history section has trade directories etc
Here is a good site for Irish townlands and parishes etc but civil does not always equate to church. https://www.townlands.ie/
Griffiths Valuation of 1848 to 1864 is also free online.
Enjoy
