Hello,
I'm looking for information on my GGgrandparents, William Martin and Ellen Smith. I understand they came from the Templeport area of County Cavan. Hoping there are some cousins out there that still live in Ireland.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Can you provide some dates on when William and Ellen were born and when they married? The Templeport marriage records start around 1836 and baptismal records go back to 1816.

I'm guessing they were married about 1829. Their first child, Mary Martin, was born in April 1830 according to the 1900 US census.
Their children, probably all born in Templeport
Mary - Apr 1930
Catherine - 1837
John - 1838
Michael - 1840
Judith -1843
Daniel - 1845
Frances - 1849
I'm guessing there may have been more children, especially between 1830 and 1837 and maybe between 1845 and 1849. Also more could have been born after 1849 - Ellen would have only been about 39.
I believe Ellen died in Canada in 1875, but I don't know about William. I have found no record of him in Canada.
The family must have emigrated to Canada between 1849, when the last child was born (that we know of) and 1852, when daughter Mary married Thomas Behan in Fitzroy Harbour, Ontario.
Thanks for your help

Here is the link to the parish register where records start in 1836 http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0852 I was not able to find the marriage record since it was pre-1836. The only baptismal records that Roots Ireland had were for Catherine, John, Judith and Daniel. Maybe you can scan the register for Michael and Frances and any other child. The record for Daniel said they lived in Templeport.
