The RC parish for Brigown civil parish is Mitchelstown/Brigown in the Diocese of Cloyne and their records go way back but there is a gap between 1801-1814  http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0081

I searched on Roots Ireland for children of William Torpey with a spouse with the surname Fitzgibbons and got one record which is below. I also found a Bridget where the mother's surname was Gibbons but I'm sure this is the same family. No other records came up.

There is a Facebook group for descnedants of the Peter Robinson settlements.

I am Kevin Leahy decendant of Michael  Leahy who sailed on the Fortitude. The problem with find much other then church records so im told is that our decendants rented plots of land from the Earl and at that time he was all to happy to rid his land of us. I am told no records of thee earls exist from this time frame. I too am hoping to find a leahy decedand perhaps a brother of Michaels who stayed in Ireland and whos family still exists. I have done DNA testing and a few distant relatives have popped up but no direct line yet.

Hopefully you will get lucky and find a family line who dates back to yours.

Thank you for your help. Yes, Bridget was their youngest of 8 children that made the voyage. The record for young William is new information to me. He is not one of the 8 children that made the trip, so must have died prior to their departure. If the other children are not listed in the parish records, does that mean they likely lived in another parish when they were born?

I searched for all the Cork records on Roots which is basciallyn the northern part of the county. (Basically, parishes in the Diocese of Cloyne are on Roots and parishes in the Diocese of Cork and Ross are on the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie

I would scan the register from 1815-1820. Earlier records are not there because of the gap I mentioned. Maybe William was married twice? Just a thought.

Thank you Roger. Looking at the dates of the other children, they all fall within the records gap you mention. I'm pretty sure the Mary Gibbons in the record is a variant of Fritzgibbons. The baby William must have parishes prior to the voyage. I will try to use the links you provided to see if I can find a marriage record or birth record for the parents. Thank you.
