In the research of my family history I have found brothers John and James McAdam born County Fermanagh around 1803-1813 to parents Terence McAdam and Susan McManus. Both John and James moved to Scotland . John McAdam marries in Scotland and has a son born Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland in 1828 and James McAdam marries in Paisley in 1841. I have no other details of their parents or siblings. I would be happy to hear of anyone researching or belonging to this line and would be glad to share such details as I have of their life and family in Scotland.

The Mitchell library in Glasgow has a large collection of Poor Law records. It was quite common for poor Irish emigrants to require assistance. These records can contain details of where they lived/were born and other family details.

Thank you, Bob, that is helpful as it is not too far from me. I am hopeful, though, of finding other family members/descendants on this site.

Hi LizL, Terence and Susan were my 5th great-grandparents. I have very little info on them, having just found their names on John and James’ documents and would love to know more if you do. Best wishes, Mandy

Hi Mandy, this is interesting as Terence and Susan are my 5th great grandparents too. I am descended from their son, John through his daughter, Jane. I am very pleased to have contact with you and will happily share what info I have. My email is lizlivsey@gmail.com . Best Regards Liz
