Seeking any information or contact from distant cousins in Ireland who are descendants of Patrick Mellifont and Ellen Byrne married 1834 South Parish Cork, and lived at 3 Evergreen St. Patrick and Ellen were my g-g-grandparents. I’ll be visiting Cork May 14-19 2017 and would be very happy to share a beverage or an email with anyone who is a relative or who has been researching the Mellifonts of Cork. I do know that my g-grandfather Thomas Mellifont b1838 (who emigrated to Australia 1862) had a younger sister Mary Jane who married a Cornelius Tobin in 1876 and remained living in Cork. I know the names of other members of the family but do not know who they married or what became of them. I'm interested in anything and everything.. Best regards Phil Mellifont.

Hi Phil
I believe I am one of the distant cousins whom you are seeking out. I bear the same name as my G Grandfather, Cornelius (Neil) Tobin who married Mary Jane Mellifont in 1876. I live in The Lough/South Parish are of Cork and would be delighted to meet you next week. There is very little I can tell you about our shared Mellifont ancestry, your research is remarkable and would have saved me a lot of toil had I come across it earlier. BTW there is a plaque denoting the spot on the North Main St where Skiddys Castle Lane once was. Only came across your post this evening while researching a Mary Jane Mellifont b 1846 and recorded as a widow living at Windsor Terrace in the 1901 census. My email address is ntneiltobin@gmail.com Kindest Regards
Neil
