I am searching for ancestors of Cornelius Connolly(b.abt 1803) who married Kate or Katherine Twomey or Tuomey(b. abt 1814). I believe they may have been married on Feb. 11, 1834 in Bantry. Their oldest child, John Connolly, was born in Ireland before they emmigrated to the U.S. I believe they appear in the 1840 census in the U.S. John may have been baptised in Kilmichael on Jul. 15, 1838. I found the marriage and baptism records at churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie. It is believed that the father of Kate Twomey was Michael Twomey and her mother was Hannorah ?? Cornelius was my gggrandfather. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mary

Mary:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and our apologies for the long delay in responding.
We are doing a sweep of unanswered messages and located your message.
I also did a search on www.irishgenealogy.ie and only found one record with a Cornelius Connolly and the surname Twomey/Toomey and it was the 1838 baptismal record you located in Kilmichael.
I did not see the 1834 marriage record in Bantry. Were the names slightly different?
Have you considered autosomal DNA testing?

Thanks for the reply! The record for the marriage shows "CORS CONNOLLY AND CATHL TWOMEY ON 11 fEB 1834 IN BANTRY, WITNESSES: JOHN CONNOLLY AND DENS TWOMEY. I would like to discover what part of Ireland the family lived in and if there were siblings of Cornelius and Kate. I am not at the point of doing DNA testing as I don't believe I have enough information on the family. Perhaps someday.
Thanks again,
Mary
