In 1923 when my 2nd Great Grandma was 53years there is a good chance she was in Grangegorman Asylum because her daughter Christina Clarke nee Fegan was in the Glasgow(Gartlock) Asylum and it says in her admission notes her mother in asylum.
Catherine Ross nee Fegan lived at 1 Great Longford Street which is where she dies 1925(on Glasnevin buriels).
I'd love to be able to have her hospital records like I did with my Dublin born, Grt Grandmother who died in Glasgow with tertiary Syphilus. I had a look at 1911 Census for institutions and there is a C.R. It's quite possible Catherine suffered of same disease as she was married to a Scot - who came to Dublin with Seaforth Highlanders.
From his army records he was treated for Syphilis but It could have been activated again with his wife......
I would really like to fill out the whole story which has been neglected. The cause and effects narrative of what happend to Katies grandchildren is tragic but I understand common enough for the times....So is it possible to find her documented in the Asylum during those crazy fighting years?
Julie.

Julie,
This link tells you where the records are held. Interestingly it mentions they also photographed the patients. So that might be a bonus for you:

Katie died less than 100 years ago, so her records might still be closed, in which case you might need to make a Freedom of Information request to view them. Anyway the obvious thing to do is to contact them and find out what they’ve got.
