I have information from my Leahy family ancestors who where Peter Robinson settlers. Part of the family left for Canada in 1823 and the balance in 1825. they are easily traced from there. The family leased land from the Earl and baptismal records show children from the Mitchelstown Parish. Ships records show one group say Mitchelstown and one says Kilworth. The childrens records (1823) say Mitchelstown and the remaining younger children and parents in 1825 say Kilworth....Am i crazy to think that perhaps my Leahy family originated with Michael's family growing up and living in Kilworth then upon getting married and needing to work moved to Mitchelstown where he leased land and farmed raising his children? My question is this Does anyone know if Leahy families still exist in Kilworth and maybe Michael's wife's maiden family name being Burgefs on the baptismal records or transcribed later as Burgess
Looking for a link from Leahy 1825 to today.

Hi Kevin.
The name would be Burgess, as two ss were written as fs at that time.
You have amazing research done with all the material that is on line now on The Peter Robinson Settlers.
Also now the Catholic Church records all on line free. I am trying to find where some of their siblings might be in Griffiths valuation and will get back to you on this
There are still a few Leahy's on the telephone Directory for the area at www.eirphonebook.i.e.

I puulled my records of Michaels Childrens baptisms and there are a Michael leahy, Johanna Leahy , Patrick and John Leahy as witnesses. No Burgefs. I would assume these are probably Michaels brothers or Cousins.
